Abstract

PURPOSE: To decrease odor generated due to frictional heat by using both phenol resin binder and resorcinol for bonding a base material and an abrasive material.
CONSTITUTION: When bonding a base material and an abrasive material, a phenol resin binder and resorcinol, or one or more sorts of resorcinol derivatives are used at the same. It is preferable as resorcinol derivatives to have alkyl resorcinol substituted by one or two alkyl groups such as methyl or ethyl. Here, the ratio of resorcinol or resorcinol derivative to the phenol resin binder is within a range of 2 to 30pts.wt. per 100pts.wt. of solid matter present in the binder. This facilitates to decrease odor to be generated by the frictional heat.
