Abstract

PURPOSE:To regulate easily energy to be applied to material and keep shearing rate within an optimum range by supplying an inert gas to materials mixed, dispersed, and passed through a tapered portion for regulating pressure imparted on the materials. CONSTITUTION:Materials, e.g., resins, supplied to a continuous type mixer are sent forward through a feeding portion 3, mixed and dispersed in a mixing portion 4, passed through the tapered portion 5, and then discharged through a discharging portion 6. During the process, the inert gas, e.g., N2, etc., is charged into a chamber 1 in the discharging portion to impart a pressure on the materials being mixed there under the condition to meet the formula P1=P2+DELTAP, where P1 is the pressure on the mixing portion 4 side, indicated on a pressure gauge 19, P2 is the pressure on the discharging portion side, indicated on a pressure gauge 18, and DELTAP is the pressure difference produced at the tapered portion 5. Thus, energy level of the materials to be mixed can be optionally regulated by the pressure P2 (assuming DELTAP to be constant) imparted by the inert gas, and therefore the shearing rate can be kept within an optimum range.
