Abstract
PURPOSE: To manufacture Cr-Mo steel for pressure vessel having excellent balance between high temp. strength and the resistance to temper brittleness without addition of expensive special elements, by reducing Si, Mn, P contents of Cr-Mo low alloy steel, and by hardening at higher temp. than that for conventional method.
CONSTITUTION: The Cr-Mo low alloy steel consists of 0.05W0.20% C, <0.50% Si, <0.60% Mn, <0.015% P, <0.015% S, 1.00W1.50% Cr, 0.40W1.50% Mo, ≤0.010% each of Sn, Sb, As, and the components are adjusted to satisfy the following relation: Si%+Mn%+40×P%≤0.90%. The steel is hardened at 1,000W 1,300°C temp which is higher than the conventional hardening temp., about 930°C, and is tempered, or after heated to 1,000W1,300°C temp., the steel is hot worked so as to restrain the formation of rough austenitic particles, then it is hardened and tempered. Hereby Cr-Mo steel for pressure vessel having high strength at high temp. and excellent resistance to temper brittleness is manufactured.
