Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent the formation of surface crack or transverse crack in cast billet, by limiting the B contents of molten steel and powder addition agent in a specific value in the casting of steel material by continuous casting method.
CONSTITUTION: In manufacturing continuously cast billet, the B content of the molten steel is limited to ≤2ppm, and that of powder addition agent for continuous casting to ≤100ppm. Hereby B content of ≤3mm surface portion of the cast material corresponding to the cast material in the direction of thickness is restricted to ≤12ppm, so that formation of surface crack and transverse crack of the cast billet are prevented.
