Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve abrasion resistance and reduce weight by forming a hard anodic oxidation film on the surface of a sintered pulley comprising an aluminum base sintered alloy.
CONSTITUTION: Wax for die lubrication is added at 0.5W2.0wt% to aluminum base alloy powder or mixed powder. The mixed powder is molded by compaction to a shape of a pulley in such a manner that all the portions of the green compact assume theoretical density ratios of 90W96%. After this green compact is dewaxed, it is sintered in a nitrogen gas atmosphere in which the atmosphere dew point during sintering is always kept within ±5°C in a range of -30W-50°C, and at a temperature within ±5°C of an optimum sintering temperature. The thus obtained sintered body is sized. Next, this sintered body of automotive timing pulley is formed on its surface with a hard (super hard) anodic oxidation film to thickness ≥7μ. Thereby, the pulley of sufficient durability is obtained.
