Abstract

PURPOSE: To miniaturize and compact the printer by employing an epicyclic gear system for a head feed mechanism of a serial printer.
CONSTITUTION: Transmission gears 12, 13 rotate with a motor gear 11 which rotates according to a printing command; epicyclic gears 15 are to turn clockwise about a shaft of an epicyclic lever 14 as interlocking with the transmission gear 13, however, since the epicyclic lever 14 is kept interlocking with a lock lever 17, the epicyclic gears 15 cannot be turned, and thus transfers rotations of the transmission gear 13 to a winding gear 16 as it is positioned. A wire 20 is taken up therefore, moves the head 22 in the direction indicated by arrow A and also pulls a return spring 26. When printing is over, an electromagnet 18 is conducted, the lock lever 17 and the epicyclic lever 14 are disengaged, the epicyclic lever 14 rotates and the epicyclic gear 15 comes off the winding gear 16, thus the head 22 returns through a force of the spring 26.
