Abstract
PURPOSE: To enable an adjuting of a braking clearance without an overadjustment by a method wherein adjusting nuts and adjusting bolts are provided on a pair of pistons respectively which are being fitted within a cylinder and both of the nuts are connected through a rod so as to be rotatable integrally.
CONSTITUTION: Upon braking operation, when pressurized liquid is supplied to a liquid chamber 23 of a cylinder 15, pistons 5, 5 are pushed toward outside respectively and brake shoes 8, 8 are pressed against an inner peripheral surface of a brake drum (not shown) to generate a braking force. In this case, a supporting shaft 12 supported by the left side piston 5 is moved along a long hole 11 and an adjusting lever 16 is rotated counterclockwise about the supporting shaft 12 by a spring 14. When a ratchet wheel 10 is rotated by an arm 16a of the lever 16, a right side nut 4 is rotated and a left side nut 4 is rotated also through a rod 18. Thereby, both of the adjusting bolts 7 are screwed toward outside thereof and a braking clearance may be corrected into a proper value.
