Abstract

PURPOSE: To accelerate the ozonizing reaction and enhance the ozone utilizing efficiency by arranging a pH adjusting means by removing acidic anions from water to be treated, an ozone oxidizing means and a pH adjusting means by removing alkaline cations and by adjusting the pH of the water to each predetermined value.
CONSTITUTION: This treating apparatus is composed essentially of means 7 for adjusting water to be treated to ≥7, desirably 8W12pH, ozone oxidizing means 3 and means 8 for adjusting ozonized water to a predetermined pH value usually in the neutral range. The pH adjusting means 7 is a section for removing acidic anions with an anion exchange resin, especially an OH type ion exchange resin in place of alkali or by electrodialysis or other method, and the H+ ion concn. of the water can be adjusted to such a predetermined value. On the other hand, pH adjusting means 8 is a section for removing alkaline cations by electrodialysis or other method using a cation exchange membrane. Thus, the salt concn. of water to be treated is not raised and the water is rather desalted. The ozonizing reaction is accelerated and the ozone utilizing efficiency is enhanced.
