Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce signal pulse voltage and signal pulse width and to obtain a high density image at high speed, by regularly arranging especially the prominences of an opposite electrode surface, attaching a large amount of magnetic powder toner to said prominences, and forming a toner image on recording paper with said toner. CONSTITUTION:Opposite electrode 4 consists of metallic base layer 5 and metallic coating layer 6, and a large number of minute prominences 8 are arranged with geometrical regularity on layer 6. They are, preferably, in the range of 15-35 mum in size, height, and interval, respectively, and said 3 values are relatively constant. As a result, an amount of magnetic powder toner 12 on the recesses is little or nil in contrast to that on prominences 8. Since toner collective 16 becomes constant, distance between recording electrode 1 as well as recording medium 3 in contact with electrode 1 and the peaks of collective 16 becomes constant on the whole, permitting voltage and width of signal pulses not to be raised, and therefore, a high density image alpha obtained at high speed.
