Abstract
PURPOSE: To make productivity and economy higher through reinforcement of a mold by compounding the specific amount of glass flowers in the refractory slurry used for the 2nd and subsequent layers of refractory material slurry coating.
CONSTITUTION: An initial coating shell layer I of molten quartz and colloidal silica is formed and granular refractory materials such as molten quartz powder are sanded on this to make an initial sanding shell layer II. Further the coating and sanding are repeated according to the size and shape of the mold, whereby the 2nd coating shell layer III, the 2nd sanding shell layer IV... are formed in lamination and the backup layer of the ceramic shell mold is thus formed. In this case, 20W50% based on weight of glass flowers (obtained by melting silica sand, kaolin and boricacid) are compounded in the refractory material slurry used for the coating shell layers of the 2nd and subsequent layers. After the extinctive pattern V of this mold is removed by extinction, the mold is fired at above the melting temperature of the glass flowers, to melt the flowers and allow them the impregnate among the sand particles.
