Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable the erase of information and new recording and the read-in of information with high sensitivity, by inserting the Farady element in the information recording carrier and optical path having the effect of magnetizing force. CONSTITUTION:The information recording carrier 9 is constituted so that the change in the polarization characteristics of reflection light can be accompanied. When the radiant ray of straight line polarization is emitted to the vertical magnetization on the recording film surface, the direction of polarization is slightly turned with the effect of magnetic force. By changing the direction of magnetization as shown in the arrow in Figure, the recording of information is possible. Further, the Farady element 10 is provided in the optical path. The laser light of the semiconductor laser 1 is collected to the carrier 9, the direction of polarization is slightly changed at reflection corresponding to the information, feedback is made to the active layer 2 and electric output is obtained at the specified circuit. In this case, the direction of polarization can be turned by pi/4 radian by the element 10. Thus, the erase of recording surface is possible, allowing to obtain the unit of high sensitivity.
