Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent an ink jet surface from smudging by a method wherein for the instantaneous interruption of supply of ink, the ink pressure supplied to an ink jet head is made lower and the exciting voltage of an electrostriction vibrator is made higher than during the printing. CONSTITUTION:In an ink jet recording device in which the ink in a tank 8 is supplied by a pressure pump 10 to an ink jet head body 1, is jetted from an orifice 2a by the electrostriction vibrator 3 operated by signals from a print signal generator 4 and then is controlled by a charge electrode 5 and a deflection electrode 6 to provide desired prints on a recording sheet 9, when printing is interrupted the supply pressure of ink is reduced (e.g. 4kg/cm<2> 2kg/cm<2>) and the exciting voltage of the electrostriction vibrator 3 is strengthened (e.g. 15V 30V) and then the supply of ink is interrupted instantaneously.
