Abstract
PURPOSE:To realize the continuous casting method for undeoxidized molten steel and manufacture a sound cast ingot with no growth of pinholes, by conducting the vacuum degassing operation of the molten steel in a tundish in addition to that of the molten steel in a cradle. CONSTITUTION:If the pressure in a vaccuum vessel 4 is reduced by driving a gas discharging device, the molten steel stored in the tundish 2 is sucked up into the vacuum vessel 4 through a suction pipe 6 and then discharged to a tundish nozzle 8 through a discharging pipe 7. The tundish nozzle 8 is equipped with an immerged nozzle 9 immerged in the molten steel stagnated in a mold 1, through which the molten steel is continuously charged into the mold 1. Thus, the molten steel in the tundish 2 is continuously subjected to the vacuum degassing operation before being charged into the mold 1. The molten steel 10 stored in the cradle 3 for charging to the tundish 2 is used after the vacuum degassing operation and when it is discharged from the cradle 3 to the tundish 2, a sealed nozzle 11 is applied and an aritificial molten slag layer 12 is also constituted in the mold 1.
