Abstract

PURPOSE:To ensure continuous measurement for the abrasion loss of a sleeve bearing metal without discontinuing the operation, by supplying the pressure oil to the fluid supply hole provided to the plain bearing metal of a rotary machine and detecting a change of flow rate of fluid which is caused by the change of gap between the shaft and the metal. CONSTITUTION:The lubricating oil is supplied with a fixed level of pressure to the area between a shaft 1 and a bearing metal 3 through a hole 4 provided to the metal 3, and the flow rate of oil flowing the hole 4 is measured by a flow meter 6. At the same time, the supply pressure is monitored by a pressure gauge 7. The outputs of the meter 6 and the gauge 7 are extracted electrically to be supplied to a correcting circuit 10. Thus a correction is given to the output given from the meter 6 by an amount equivalent to the change of pressure, and a filter 11 removes the output from the circuit 10 for an amount larger than a certain level. Then the output frequency of the filter 11 is counted by a counter 12. Thus a reduction of gap around the hole 4 is measured.
