Abstract
PURPOSE: To enable a water current to have an optimum angle of elevation with respect to the vanes of a runner by a method wherein the free ends of the vanes of the runner whose one end is fixed to an outer plate are connected by a support ring, one end of the main shaft of the runner is fixed to a side disk and a regulating plate is provided within the runner.
CONSTITUTION: The side disk 9 of the runner 3 to which the vanes 2 are fixed is supported by the main shaft 1 in a cantilever fashion and the free ends of the vanes 2 are connected and reinforced by the support ring 17. Further, a shaft 15 having the regulating plate 14 fixed thereto is arranged within the runner 3 by means of a nut 18 and a fixing nut 16. With the above structure, the flow rate of water introduced into the runner 3 through inlet pipes 6 and 7 is adjusted by a guide vane 5 and the velocity and the direction of the water current are varied by the vanes 2. Further, the water introduced into the runner is so controlled by the regulating plate 14 that the direction of the water current meets at right with the surface of each of the vanes 2, whereby the energy of the water is effectively converted into mechanical energy.
