Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the surging effectively with a limited bypass supercharge by jetting the bypass supercharge in the tangential direction of a compressor impeller as returned to the compressor.
CONSTITUTION: An opening 25, communicating to an inlet section 22, which is provided on a bypass passage to short circuit an inlet section 22 and an outlet section 23 of a compressor housing 21 is made such a nozzle that the axis thereof aligns the tangential direction in the rotation of a compressor impeller. In addition, a bypass valve 27 is interposed in the bypass passage 16 in such a manner that it is interlocked with a diaphragm device 29 to open the bypass passage 16 when the negative pressure in the suction exceeds a specific level. When a sharp rise in the back pressure of the compressure develops a surging, the bypass valve 27 opens to allow a bypass supercharge to flow in the tangential direction of the impeller 26 from the opening 25 thereby checking the surging.
