PURPOSE: To reduce the hull resistance by adapting a projection projected backward from the rear end of the stern for reducing the hull resistance to be vertically movable against the main hull in the base for balancing the weight of the projection with the buoyancy and preventing the generation of excessive stress.
CONSTITUTION: A slide part 9c of a projection 9 as a wave-killing body projected from the rear end of the stern of a main hull 1 for reducing the hull resistance is fitted to a groove 16 vertically provided on the main hull 1, and the projection 9 is constructed to be vertically movable according as the draft of the hull is changed. Even if the draft is changed from a full load draft line 10, the projection 9 is automatically and vertically moved to a position to balance its weight with its buoyancy, and the connecting part between the projection 9 and the main hull 1 is prevented from concentration of excessive stresses.
