Abstract

PURPOSE: To manufacture an Al-alloy-made extruded semihollow shape free from strain to be used for a sash member, etc., with a good yield, by forming an extruded fully hollow shape so as to make the thickness of the middle part thin, by subjecting this shape to an age hardening treatment, and then, by cutting the shape to divide it at the thin walled middle part.
CONSTITUTION: At extruding a fully hollow shape A having concave grooves 2 at both ends, thin walled parts 5 are longitudinally formed at the middle of breadth of both outer walls 4. This shape A is subjected to an age hardening treatment so as to preserve the elasticity. Next, the shape A is cut off at the thin walled parts 5 and is divided into two imperfectly hollow shapes B respectively having an imperfectly hollow part 10. Hereupon, an outer cutting roll 6 and an inner cutting roll 7 are applied to the outer wall surface 4 for dividing the left and right two pieces 8, 9 of the outer wall surface 4 separated at the thin walled parts 5 while two pieces 8, 9 are being alternately bent within the elastic limit. By the present method, an imperfectly hollow strainless shape B possible to fully restore the initial shape after being pressed is obtained without generating material wastes.
