Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent consisting parts from breakage, by connecting an engine with a ship propelling apparatus through a universal coupling, a Neidhart cushion and a sliding joint.
CONSTITUTION: A relative displacement is produced in the direction of circumference as well as in the direction of the axis between the output shaft 26 of engine 10 and the input shaft 54 of ship propelling apparatus 16. The relative angle displacement in the direction of circumference is absorbed because the universal couplings 30 and 50 are provided. The relative displacement in the axial direction is adsorbed by the silding joint consisting of the middle shaft 36 and the inner shaft 42, which are sliding-freely movable to each other by the spline joint construction. On the other hand, the shock force in the torsional direction and the torsional vibration produced by torque displacement of the engine are absorbed by the Neidhart cushion, which is consisted of a square-shaped middle shaft 36 arranged into the square-pipe-shaped outer shaft 32, shifted their phases at an angle of 90°, and a plurality of rubber are forcedly inserted between them.
