Abstract
PURPOSE: To reduce fuel consumption in processing of waste gas of combustion in which SO2 is collected by an adsorbent and converted to sulfur by Claus method, by utilizing waste heat of a furnace, where the off-gas such as H2S, COS is oxidized to SO2, for desorption and reducing reaction in treating processes.
CONSTITUTION: Waste gas of a boiler enters an adsorption zone 8 of active carbon from a waste gas inlet 6 and goes out from a waste gas outlet 7 and passes through a stack. Active carbon is turned and shifted to a desorption zone 12 after vomiting SO2 by steam of about 500°C, returned again to the adsorption zone. A part of collected gaseous SO2 by-passes a reducing furnace and joins again. Sulfur is generated in a Claus furnace 26, and sulfur is discharged to the outside of the system. The off-gas containing H2S and COS is burnt and oxidized, and return to the inlet 6 joining with the original waste gas of the boiler. Its heat is given to circulating steam and gaseous SO2 that enters the reducing furnace by passing heat exchangers 13, 18 on the way, and further recovered with a feeding water heater 32.
