PURPOSE:To realize an efficient positioning for a magnetic disk head, by varying the record density of information alternately at every track in three types or more and then detecting the shift of the disk head from the frequency component of a read signal to feed back to the positioning system. CONSTITUTION:The record density of three types or more is set to the rotating angle of the digital information which is recorded concentrically on a magnetic disk 1. This action is repeated alternately at every track T to carry out a writing of information. Then a minute shift (a) or (b) of a head 51 to the track T is detected from the frequency component of a read signal of the head, and this signal is fed- back to the head positioning system. Thus the head 51 is positioned at the correct position on the track T. For instance, a writing is given on the disk 1 that turns with a certain speed of angle by varying the record density with every track and alternately in three types I-III and by changing the recording modulation frequency.
