Abstract
PURPOSE:To display two different kinds of data by the display patterns suitable therefore by piling up three glass substrates as upper, intermediate and lower plates respectively, and constituting two layers of liquid crystal display elements. CONSTITUTION:The first display element is constituted by forming transparent opposed electrodes 307 and 308 on the lower surface of an upper plate substrate glass 301 and on the upper surface of an intermediate plate substrate glass 302 respectively, providing orientating layers thereto respectively and enclosing TWIST liquid crystal 309 in the gap formed by means of a spacer 310. The second display element is constituted by forming opposed electrodes 311 and 312 on the lower surface of the intermediate plate substrate glass 302 and on the upper surface of a lower plate substrate glass 303 respectively, providing orientating layers and enclosing TWIST liquid crystal 314 in the gap provided by means of a spacer 313. When a voltage is applied between the opposed electrodes 307 and 308, the numerals for a pocket calculator can be displayed, while when a voltage is applied between the opposed electrodes 311 and 312, time can be displayed.
