Abstract

PURPOSE:To raise the rate of removing inorganic carbon and eliminate the need for maintenance as well as remove the adverse effect of the floating matter by arranging a plurality of air diffusing tubes in an aerating cell, and providing a water-draining automatic valve in the bottom thereof. CONSTITUTION:The sample water whose pH has been regulated is supplied into an aerating cell 2 from an inlet 5. While descending in the aerating cell 2, the sample water is aerated first by means of the upper air-diffusing tube 12 and then aerated again by the lower air-fiffusing tube 7. As the air bubbles produced by the air-diffusing tube 7 rise in the cell 2, the CO2 concentration therein reaches several %. However, air bubbles including no CO2 are newly supplied by means of the air diffusing tube 12. Thereby, the whole of the aerating cell is effectively utilized for removal of inorganic carbon, so that the rate of removing inorganic carbon improves. An automatic valve 14 operates at intervals of time properly set by the signal from the control part, draining water from the aerating cell 2 and a draining cell 3. Thereby, the accumulation of the floating matter and scale is prevented.
