Abstract

PURPOSE:To coat a developer on a developer holding body to uniform thickness and obtain the good developer free from any photographic fog by scooping up the developer from a developer storage part onto the holding body, and giving vibrations only to the developer of the scooping part thereby activating the developer. CONSTITUTION:While a nonmagnetic sleeve 2 opposing to an electrostatic latent image carrying body 1 is being rotated in the arrow (a) direction, the one component type nonmagnetic toner 3 from a hopper 4 is fed little by little into a coating chamber 4a by a supplying member 10. A member 6 which consists of a plate 6b provided with 10-20mu ruggedness and gives vibrations to the toner 3 is provided to the leading end of the advance and retreat bar 6a penetrating through the wall of the chamber 4. The member 6 is given vibrations by an electromagnet 7a provided in a chamber 70 and a permanent magnet 6c attached to the end part of the member 6. Sufficient frictional charge is applied by vibrations to only the toner 3 scooped up in this way, whereby the cohesion of the toner particles 3 is eliminted and the toner controlled to uniform thickness by the clearance 5 between the sleeve 2 and a semicirculr arc-shaed wall covering the same is supplied to the photoreceptor 1. The residual toner on the sleeve 2 is removed by a cleaning blade 10.
