Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent an overheat preventing valve from opening unnecessarily in low-pressure operation, by setting a minimum flow rate approximately proportional to the square root of the discharge pressure, and by opening or closing the overheat preventing valve according to said set value.
CONSTITUTION: The discharge pressure of a pump 1 is sent to a square root extracting arithmetic device 6 by means of a discharge pressure transmitter 5. The output thereof is made a set pressure approximately proportional to the square root of the discharge pressure by means of a proportional operation device 7. On the other hand, the suction flow rate is sent to a subtracter 8 by means of a suction flow rate transmitter 4, and the difference between the output set value by the proportional operation device 7 is calculated. The output of the subtracter 8 is compared with a slight allowance value for safety by means of a comparator 9. When said output is less or more than the allowance value, an overheat preventing valve 3 is opened or closed. Thus, a minimum flow rate approximately proportional to the square root of the discharge pressure is set, and the overheat preventing valve 3 is opened or closed according to said set value, in order to prevent the overheat preventing valve 3 from opening unnecessarily in low-pressure operation.
