Abstract
PURPOSE:To make control of knocking possible in all the range of operation, by letting the basic ignition timing be such an ignition timing that knocking can be obviated even when the partial pressure of steam is lowered, and determining lead angle correction magnitude of the ignition timing within the range up to the knocking occurrence point. CONSTITUTION:The basic ADV value stored in an ROM29 is set at a value such that knocking can be suppressed or evaded even when the steam partial pressure is lowered in winter. A variable ADV arithmetic circuit 274 tables look-up variable ADV values previously stored in the two-dimension table form of the revolutional frequency of the engine and the fuel jet amount according to the basic fuel jet amount data, and when there is a relevant datum, it will be stored, then an operation completion signal is outputted to an arithmetic circuit 270. This variable ADV value is a maximum value capable of leading an angle from the basic ADV value when knocking does not occur.
