Abstract

PURPOSE: To form a strong junction part, by forming a groove on one of two metallic materials and by generating heat diffusion in the interface of the junction part by heating after applying pressure to the other to join them plastically.
CONSTITUTION: In case when a metallic material 12 such as a steel shaft and a metallic material 14 such as a copper disc are joined, an annular groove 16 is formed preliminarily on the surface of the junction part of the shaft 12, and a hole 18 to be fitted to the shaft 12 is formed in the disc 14. The disc 14 and the shaft 12 are fitted and are held by a lower mold 20; and when they are compressed by an upper mold 22, a part of materials of the disc 14 is fluidized plastically and is flowed into the annular groove 16, and thus, both materials 12 and 14 are joined. Then, when they are heated at the recrystallization temperature or more of one metallic material at least, metallic atoms are diffused on interfaces of the surface of the junction part, and a metallic junction part is formed between them. By this method, a higher joining strength is obtained in comparison with compressed joining.
