Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the captioned water heater which permits easily conducting maintenance work, an inspection operation and the replacement of parts, by designing the water heater in such a manner that cold water is introduced from an upper portion thereof so as to be heated immediately as the water flows naturally in the downward direction. CONSTITUTION:A light-receiving heating element 2 and overheaters 3 are provided in a frame 1, and a corrugated transparent member 4 is provided over the overheaters 3, to form a heater body having a hollow inner portion. Injection nozzles 6 and an upper cover 7 are provided on a water feed pipe 5, and a heat exchanger 10 at the highest portion of the heater body. At a lower portion of the heater body, a conduit 12 consisting of a discharge pipe 8 having a lower cover 9 is provided. Cold water is introduced into a water feed inlet A to be injected into the heater body from an upper portion thereof through the nozzles 6. The resulting water turns to hot water as it flows naturally in the downward direction along or through the light- receiving heating element 2, overheaters 3, transparent member 4 and cavities 11. The hot water flows into the conduit 12 to be discharged from a discharge port 13 via the discharge pipe 8.
