Abstract
PURPOSE:To increase the antiabrasiveness of the surface of the roll by a method wherein alloy elements contained by an electrode are made to permeate into the surface of the roll by means of discharge satin finishing in the surface treating of the roll for rolling and tiny metal pieces are dispersed on the occasion of electrospark machining. CONSTITUTION:The roll to which dull working is given by the electrospark machining method is composed of the base material 4 of the roll which is not influenced by the working, a layer 3 which is annealed by the heat of machining, a layer 2 hardened by the heat of machining and a layer 1 solidified again after being melted. In this case, as the main constituents of the electrode, Ag, Cu and Al, for instance, are thinkable. Furthermore, by adding at least one kind of elements out of Cr, Mo, Ti, V and W, for instance, to the above electrode and making these elements permeate into the surface part of the roll in machining, the anti-abrasiveness of the roll is increased.
