Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for the temperature compensation and simplify the constitution of a position detector by preventing the magnetic flux of the magnetic circuit, which is formed by opposing magnetic pole parts comprising a yoke provided with teeth on both ends to a movable yoke having teeth of given pitch, from including a constant component. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic circuit is formed from a permanent 1, a U-shaped yoke 13, a plate-shaped yoke 23, right and left magnetic poles 14R and 14L and a toothed yoke 5. The magnetic resistance generated in air gaps G1-G4 by the magnetomotive force of the permanent magnet 1 are represented by R1-R4. Moreover, the magnetic resistances generated in a part of a magnetic flux detecting element 2, a part of the permanent magnet 1 and an air gap G0 are represented by R5-R7. R1-R7 form a Wheatstone bridge, and when specified relationships are applied to R1-R7, phiv= Kcostheta is obtained. The magnetic flux phiv generated in R5 is measured by means of the magnetic flux detecting element 2. K is a constant. and theta represents the relative position between the magnetic pole parts 14L-1, 14R-1 and the teeth of the toothed yoke 5-1, the tooth pitch being 2pi. Thereby, the detected magnetic flux becomes a sine-wave function not including a constant component. Accordingly, a position detector requiring no temperature compensating circuit is obtained.
