Abstract

PURPOSE:To operate a photoreceptor drum and an optical system independently of each other, by turning off automatically a clutch mechanism, driving the drum and optical system synchronously, through a release mechanism in case of a power failure of jam. CONSTITUTION:With driving pinion gear 38, gear 8a of photoreceptor drum 8 and gear 40 of shaft 41 engage. Shaft 41 is provided with clutch wheel 39, which is coupled with clutch lever 45 pivoted on gear 43 united with freely rotatable wire drum 44. At the terminal of shaft 41, the release holding mechanism composed of release wheel 48, spring 49, etc., is provided to restrict the operation of lever 45. In this constitution, when solenoid 65 is in operation, lever 45 and clutch wheel 39 couples together synchronising with each other accurately and drum 8 and the optical system operate synchronously, but once solenoid 65 is turned off owing to a power failure or jam, lever 45 is disengaged through the release mechanism. Thus, drum 8 and the optical system are operated independently of each other.
