Abstract

PURPOSE: To simply and effectively remove fluorine ion present in waste water, by a method in which pH of waste water containing fluorine ion is regulated to an acid side, and then a calcium compound and iron powder are added to the waste water with stirring.
CONSTITUTION: An acid is added to a waste water containing fluorine ion from factories to regulate its pH to an acid side, or 5 or less. Then, a calcium-containing compound, e.g., calcium chloride, and iron powder are added to the waste with stirring. Thus, the fluorine ion is converted into calcium fluoride, and the calcium fluoride is adsorbed on the iron powder being dissolved partially and removed from the waste water.
