Abstract

PURPOSE:A skin-bleaching cosmetic that is made by adding thiopronine and/or its derivative to the cosmetic base, thus showing such a high skin-bleaching effect that conventional bleaching agents cannot reach. CONSTITUTION:Thiopronine and/or its derivative of formula I, which inhibits the tyrosinase activity, is added to a cosmetic base to give the objective skin-bleaching cos metic that has a much higher bleaching effect than that of known agents. Moreover, it can be used safely without any injury. An example of thiopronine drivative is compound of formula II (X is H, staight-chain, branched-chain, cyclic or unsaturated acryl, preferably 2-24C acyl; Y is H, straight-chain, branched- chain, cyclic, unsaturated alkyl, preferably 1-24C alkyl; where the case where X and Y are H is excluded) such as S-2-ethylhexanoyl-alpha-mercapto-propinoylglycine is preferably used.
