Abstract
PURPOSE: To convert the titled furnace into an energy saving type furnace and extend the period of scale discharge by deciding the length of the heating furnace for heating continuously cast hot ingots after hot charge in accordance with the capacities of casting and rolling processes.
CONSTITUTION: The length of this heating furnace connecting a continuously casting process with a rolling process is decided by equation I (where t1 is the average residence time of unit number of ingots in the furnace; t2 is the average rolling time of unit number of ingots; W is the weight of an ingot; a is the width of an ingot; and b is the space between ingots). This heating furnace is a divided type heating furnace divided into ≥2pts., and the preheating and heating zones and the soaking zone are of walking hearth type and walking beam type, respectively. The capacity of the furnace can be regulated in accordance with the capacities of the continuously casting and rolling processes. In addition, the furnace saves the energy and has a longer period of scale discharge and a higher operation rate.
