PURPOSE:To effect smooth discharge of machining dust generated at the time of electric discharge machining so that process velocity may be accelerated by constituting a groove, a protrusion or a concave and a convex shape on the surface of a surfacial pole of a wire electrode on a wire cut electric discharge machining machine. CONSTITUTION:A processing liquid 10 is filled in a processing clearance 4 between a wire electrode 3 where a groove 3A is formed on the surface and a work 2 and also a power supply for processing 10 is connected. If an electricity is discharged in the processing clearance 4, machining dust 11 is generated. This process dust 11 is discharged into a outside of the processing clearance by means of the groove 3A provided on the surface of the wire electrode 3, if the wire electrode 3 is fed toward a proceeding direction A. Simultaneoulsy, a fresh processing liquid 10 is supplied smoothly to the processing clearance 4 through the groove 3A. A protrusion or a concave or a convex shape may be provided on the surface of an electrode instead of the groove. In this way, it is possible to remove machining dust an supply processing liquid without increasing a supply pressure of processing liquid beyond a necessary level.
