Abstract

PURPOSE:To recover an interpolar condition to an optimum state by controlling a clearance between an electrode and a work based on a signal for detecting an abnormal condition. CONSTITUTION:A digital scale 9 is installed on an electrode support bar 10. If the electrode 1 descends, a pulse Sp in a plus direction generates. While the electrode ascends, a pulse Sn in a minus direction generates. These pulses are input to a reversible counter 11 which is an interpolar discrimination device. This count value is converted to an analog signal by means of a digital analog converter D/A. This signal is input to an interpolar clearance control device JMP. Based on this output, values such as electric processing conditions suitable to an interpolar condition, i.e. electric discharge peak current value, electric discharge continuation time, discontinuation time, applied voltage, etc. are automatically set.
