Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the workability of terminal processing of the heat pipe covered with a lead pipe by a method wherein the heat pipe is drawn by pressing circular concave dies against both ends of the lead pipe covering the heat pipe and small holes formed at both ends of the lead pipe as a result of the drawing are sealed up.
CONSTITUTION: The heat pipe 5 is treated with a lead plating machine so as to cover the outer periphery of the heat pipe with a lead alloy so that both ends of the resultant lead pipe 9 project beyond the heat pipe 5. Next, the lead covered heat pipe 11 is fixed on a support plate and the circular concave dies 12 are pressed against both ends of the lead pipe 9, respectively, while the dies are rotated, to thereby draw the pipe. After performing the above process, the small holes 13 formed at both ends of the lead pipe due to the drawing are sealed by a gas welding process by use of a lead rod to complete the terminal processing of the lead pipe. Thus, the workability of terminal processing of the heat pipe can be improved.
