Abstract
PURPOSE: To enhance the efficiency of the water wheel by curving the vane plates of the water wheel vertically against a water current and by making round holes near the central parts of the vane plates.
CONSTITUTION: The vane plates 3 are curved vertically against the water current, while the round holes 4 are made near the central parts of the vane plates 3. By this constitution, the resistance coefficient of the vane plate is made much larger than that of a flat vane plate and the wake-flow resistance of running water to the vane plate is reduced. Moreover, since the generation of an eddy at the back surface of the vane plate is prevented by a jet stream from the round hole 4 and thereby the back pressure is reduced, the water wheel can be driven with high efficiency.
