Abstract
PURPOSE:To allow all channels to receive equal insertion losses by constituting optical branching filters of 2 channels stepwise in the form of 2<j>, and forming the pass bands of the respective branching filters into a comb-tooth shape. CONSTITUTION:Optical branching filters of 2 channels are shown by being enclosed with frames and the input light signal shown by the arrow of a solid line is assumed to be wavelength-multiplexed to n-tuple waves. The minimum natural number (k) satisfying n<k>>n is defined as (j), and the respective channels of the wavelength multiplexing are shown by giving numbers from the shorter of wavelengths. First, the input light signal is entered to a branching filter T. However, the branching filter T is so adjusted as to branch the signal to 1 of the 1st digit of the channels numbered by a binary notation and to 0. The beams of light divided to the optical paths 1 and 0 by the branching filter T enter respective branching filters 1 and 0, and further they are branched to 4 kinds of light of branching filters 11, 01, 10, 00 in the 3rd step.
