Abstract
PURPOSE:To facilitate cutting and removing the projected part of a reinforcement by forming notches on the part of a reinforcement projecting from the end of a molded article with a cutting tool provided within a metallic mold for injection molding and removing the projecting part by bending after injection molding. CONSTITUTION:The projecting part 14 of a reinforcement 6 is fitted in a supporting cavity 76 formed within a metallic mold 43 for injection molding. Notches 32 and 34 are formed on the reinforcement 6 with cutting blades 20 and 26 provided within the metallic mold 43 as the fixed mold 52 and the movable mold 54 are joined and fastened together, then molten resin is injected into the mold cavities 56 and 72. The molded article is removed from the metallic mold after solidification and the projection 14 is removed simply by bending. Thus the projecting part 14 can be removed without using any special cutting device and without forming any trace for supporting the reinforcement on the molded article. This method applies to the manufacture of the brake handle of a motor cycle which is reinforced by a steel plate.
