Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a solid electrolyte film of an excellent stability and an outstanding strength by a simplified manufacturing method, by applying a solution of organic metal compounds over the surface of a base body to make a layer containing the organic metal compounds to be formed over the body, before the layer is heated to make the organic substances to be decomposed and disappears. CONSTITUTION:An organic metal compound containing a tetravalent metal ion is added with an organic metal compound containing either a bivalent or a trivalent metal ion. For instance, zirconium naphthenate [(C6H11COO)4Zr] and yttrium naphthenate [(C6H11COO)3Y], after they are pyrolyzed, are mixed so that the ratio of ZrO2 to Y2O3 is 9mol to 1mol. Thus prepared mixture is dissolved into kerosene so as to make a kerosene solution containing 30% of the mixture, which is applied to a base plate made of a metal or a ceramic. After that, the kerosene solution applied to the base plate is dried, and is heated at 600 deg.C for 10min, thereby a ZrO2- Y2O3 system film is produced over the base plate.
