Abstract
PURPOSE: To increase the braking power of a parking brake by connecting a parking-brake operation mechanism to the anchor side of brake shoes, and applying a movable wheel cylinder together with a servo-type parking-brake operation mechanism.
CONSTITUTION: When a brake pedal 17 is stepped on, an operational pressure generated in a master cylinder 16 is introduced into a pressure chamber of a wheel cylinder 4, and brake shoes 2 and 3 are pushed to the inside of a brake drum 1 by the expanding work of pistons 4a and 4b for generating braking power. Then, when a lever 9 of a parking-brake operation mechanism P is swayed to the left via a cable 11, the lever 9 pushes the shoe 3 to the inside of the drum 1 via a catch part 12 and a strut 13, and the shoe 2 is pushed to the drum 1 via a pin 10. At this stage, the braking power generated on the side of the shoe 3 moves a cylinder main body 4e to the right and is transmitted to the shoe 2, consequently generating a servo-work.
