Abstract
PURPOSE: To selectively remove carbon monoxide from a gas, by using as a carbon monoxide removing agent a product obtained by calcining copper ion-containing zirconium oxide hydrate in a reductive atmosphere.
CONSTITUTION: Zirconium oxide hydrate containing copper ions is calcined in the reductive atmosphere to give a composite compound of zirconium and copper. Use of this compound for removing carbon monoxide produced from a room heater or smoking permits removal speed to be high, deterioration of absorptivity not to result from moisture accompanied by the gas, and absorption to be effected selectively at room temperature, and economically at low cost.
