PURPOSE:To carry out efficient distribution of a large number of copies and to facilitate copying operation by an operator, by using detachable sorters having a plurality of bins, and enabling the start bin of the sorter to be designated. CONSTITUTION:The first sorter A is detachably attached to a copying machine, the second sorter B is detachably attached to sorter A, and when needed, the third sorter C etc. are added. Copied sheets are received on tray 14, or changed over to sorters A, B... and received there, and in the case of a large number of copies, the 12th sheet is sent to sorter A, and the following sheet is delivered to sorter B through rollers 101-103. In a mode for designating the start bin of a sorter, the value of a flag designating a sorter bin is judged, pulses of the corresponding value are produced as a signal for driving the designated bin, and clicks (a)-(k) are successively changed over at each pulse.
