Abstract

PURPOSE:To easily mass-produce multilayered liquid crystal display elements by setting all the directions of the rubbing treatment to be applied to orientated films at the same direction with respect to substrates. CONSTITUTION:Plural substrates 11, 12, 13 are combined and these are cut to produce three pieces of elements. First, the electrodes 2a of a lower substrate 2 are formed on both sides of the substrate 11, and the electrode 1a of an upper substrate 1 is formed at the center. The electrode 1a of the both substrates 1 are formed on the substrate 12 and the electrode 2a of the lower electrode 2 at the center thereof respectively. Lower electrodes 3b are formed on both sides of the surfaces of the middle substrate 13 and an upper electrode 3a at the center. Upper electrodes 3a are formed on both sides on the back surface thereof and a lower electrode 3b at the center. Rubbing treatment for the purpose of orientating liquid crystal molecules is accomplished in the same direction shown by arrows. Thence, if these are combined and are cut at the dotted line parts, three pieces of the elements are obtained at one time. By such method, the multilayered liquid crystal display elements are mass- produced with ease.
