Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the durability of a hard forming roll which is engraved with a master pattern on the surface by electric discharge machining and produce a steel plate having sharp rugged patterns by pressing said forming roll onto the surface of the steel plate.
CONSTITUTION: A hard forming roll 1 is pivotally supported to a supporting frame 3, and while a working electrode 5 as cathode is being operated in x-y directions, a master pattern 1A is engraved by the same on the surface of a roll 1 which is anode. The roll 1 engraved with the pattern 1A is set to a roll press device 10, and is pressed to the surface of a steel plate 6 which is transferred by the device 10. By this pressing, the sharp rugged patterns are formed on the surface of the steel plate 6.
