Abstract

PURPOSE:To collect ink mist sikmply and prevent contamination of the surface of recording paper or the like by a method wherein a porous ink mist collecting member is arranged in the leeward of wind generated by the rotation of a drum to which the recording paper is mounted. CONSTITUTION:In the ink jet printer consisting of an ink jet head 1, charging and deflecting electrodes 2, a wind shielding plate 5 and the like, the ink mist collecting member 6 consisting of porous substance is arranged at the leeward side than a printing position with respect to the wind generated by the rotation of the drum 3 into the arrow sign direction A. The ink mist, generated by ink which could not be absorbed by the recording paper 4 and is repelled out into space when the ink droplets are injected from the ink jet head 1 and are collided against the recording paper 4, is collected by the collecting member 6 under soaking it into the holes thereof by capillarity thereby preventing the contamination of the device and improving the recording quality of the device.
