Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:Compounds of formula I (R1 is H, methyl; R2 is metal atom, alkyl, aralkyl and phenacyl, both of which may be substitued on the ring; R3WR5 are H, acyl; where, when R3 is 2-methylbutyryl, neither R4 or R5 are H).
EXAMPLE: Sodium ML-236A carboxylate.
USE: Remedy for hyperlipemia and prophylactic for arteriosclerosis: they prohibits cholesterol synthesis to lower lipids in blood.
PREPARATION: Any of ML-236A of formula II, ML-236B of formula III, novel MB- 530A of formula IV or novel MB-530B of formula V is used as a raw material to be esterified or converted to a metal salt according to the purpose.
