Abstract
PURPOSE: To pad metal of high hardness and high abrasion resistance as thickly as possible by mounting templates provided with protective films in the vicinity of the part to be padded of a base metal and melting self-fluxing metal in the space thereof.
CONSTITUTION: Self-fluxing metal 32 is melt-sprayed to the edge part of carbon steel, low-alloy steel, etc. of a vane body 31, etc. Thence, templates 33 having protective films 34 are mounted by using fixing jigs 35 and the vane 31 is preheated with preheating burners 36. Thence, the self-fluxing metal (a) is dropped and deposited to the dam formed by the templates 33 and is heated from the side face by using heating torches 37 so that the self-fluxing metal (a) is melted. This operation is repeated several times (aWd). According to this method, the padded part of high hardness free from cracking is obtained in a thickness as required.
