Abstract
PURPOSE: To enable a titled state to be accurately decided without requiring skill by obtaining the decrease in the temperature signal in the direction of crossing the welded seam after cutting of the build-up part of the continuously moving linear welded seam by detection of an infrared ray temperature.
CONSTITUTION: An electric welded tube 1 having been welded by a high frequency coil 2 is sent in the arrow direction and the build-up part of the welded seam is cut by a tool 3. The signal showing the surface temperature distribution in the scanning direction is obtained from the infrared ray temperature detector 4 which is so disposed as to have a scanning direction crossing this cut welded seam. This signal is sent via an amplifier 5 to a discrimination circuit 6. The circuit 6 decides the abnormality of the cut state and announces abnormality by an alarm device 7 in the event of abnormality. Namely, at the normal cutting, the cut portion emits metallic gloss and the emissivity there becomes exceedingly lower as compared to that at the circumference. When the cutting width decreases on account of tool wear, and if the width W of the low-temperature portion becomes less than a fixed value, an alarm is given.
